An era ended with the retirement of the Undertaker. After his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33 Mark Callaway known as Undertaker by his ring name retired with a 23-2 record at WrestleMania. But that doesn’t mean The Deadman has to die. The Phanom will never die.Though the era of darkness ended but there is no one to light it up. Now there will be no funeral march with bells and that theme song.
It has been so amazing to see him in the ring. He was unstoppable. So fierce, so dangerous, with anger boiling in his eyes. For the last 19 years i have been watching him on TV. I will never forget his long entrances. It was so mesmerizing to see him coming into the ring amid the blue darkness.
The Undertaker brought the curtain down on his legendary career on on Sunday the 3rd of April after losing to Roman Reigns.The crowd in the arena were clearly left upset with some of the WWE universe in tears as they watched him walk down the ramp.
Mark Callaway debuted for Vince McMahon’s promotion 25-years-ago and has been a fan favourite ever since.
The Undertaker Biography
Mark William Calaway was an American professional wrestler better known by his ring name The Undertaker. He was signed on with WWE in 1993 and remained the company’s most tenured performer and the only remaining active competitor from the very first episode of WWE Raw in 1993 till his retirement. The Undertaker began his wrestling career with World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in 1984. He joined World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as “Mean” Mark Callous in 1989. Soon after, he joined the World Wrestling Federation and debuted as Kane the Undertaker; the name was shortened to the Undertaker subsequently.
The Undertaker has performed under two contrasting personas. The first is the role of The Deadman which he took on during his camera debut at Survivor Series (1990). His other persona has been that of the American Bad-Ass, a biker, which he portrayed from May 2000 through November 2003. He has often participated in various specialty matches such as the Casket match, the Buried Alive match, Hell in a Cell and the Last Ride match.
An important part of the character is the Undertaker character’s half-brother Kane who has both feuded with The Undertaker and performed in a tag-team with him as the Brothers of Destruction. Among other accolades, Calaway was an eight-time World Champion having won the WWF/E Championship four times and the World Heavyweight Championship three times as The Undertaker, and the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship once. The Undertaker is also a seven-time World Tag Team champion, a six-time WWF Tag Team Champion; a one-time WCW Tag Team Champion and the winner of the 2007 Royal Rumble.
